One of the world’s largest asset managers has made its first India bet — and it is engineering-led, not operations-driven.

Vanguard opened its first Global Capability Centre in India on November 3, 2025, in Hyderabad. The centre launched with around 300 professionals and is expected to grow to over 2,300 employees by 2029 — making it one of Vanguard’s largest technology hubs globally. Venkatesh Natarajan leads India operations as head of the centre.

The centre works on engineering, cloud modernisation, data analytics, AI and machine learning, and cybersecurity, with innovation labs built to accelerate Vanguard’s digital platform capabilities. This is not a support function. It is a technology build working directly on the platforms behind Vanguard’s global investment management operations — trading systems, data pipelines, risk infrastructure, and client-facing products.

Vanguard chose Hyderabad over other Indian cities deliberately. The city’s financial services and fintech GCC cluster gave it access to engineers who already understand asset management and financial technology rather than general software development. That domain specificity matters for a firm running systems at this scale, managing trillions of dollars in assets globally.

Telangana has set a target of 120 new GCCs in the near term, expected to generate over 120,000 jobs. Vanguard’s centre is among the most significant anchors in that plan — not a cautious pilot but a multi-year commitment to build engineering capability at scale.

Most of Hyderabad’s prominent GCCs belong to technology, pharma, or enterprise software companies. An asset manager of Vanguard’s scale choosing the city for its primary Asia technology hub adds a different dimension — and signals the city is ready for more complex, higher-stakes financial technology mandates.

As the centre scales toward full capacity by 2029, it will be one of the clearest tests of whether India can move from executing financial technology to owning it.

Vanguard is a US-based investment management company headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and one of the world’s largest asset managers.

Samsung Demo Phone

9.1 Awesome

The Samsung Demo Phone currently tops our rank of the greatest Samsung phones available, beating even the pricier iPhone Ultra Max Mega.

So unsurprisingly this is an absolutely fantastic phone. The design isn't massively changed from the previous generation, but most other elements have been upgraded. This is what we call a big boost.
