The US insurance technology company is building its next growth phase from India — and the new office makes that intent concrete.
Guidewire Software has opened a new Global Capability Centre at Prestige Tech Park in Bengaluru. The facility spans 81,664 square feet with 600 seats. The company plans to double its India headcount to 1,000 professionals by end of 2028.
It currently employs around 540 engineers across Bengaluru and Chennai, working on cloud platforms, AI-driven underwriting, and data analytics. The rest work in professional services — implementing and deploying Guidewire’s platform for insurance clients alongside partners like PwC, Capgemini, and TCS.
What the company does
Guidewire builds software for non-life insurers — property and casualty companies that need technology for underwriting, claims, and billing. Over 570 insurers across 43 countries run on its platform. The shift to cloud has accelerated demand, and that migration requires significant professional services capacity — implementation, configuration, and integration work that needs both technical and insurance domain knowledge.
Where growth is heading
Chief Product Development Officer Diego Devalle said growth through 2028 will be bigger on services than on engineering. India already runs a portion of Guidewire’s engineering work, but professional services is the faster-growing function — teams helping insurers implement and run the platform across global markets.
At 1,000 employees, India will account for nearly a quarter of Guidewire’s global workforce of around 3,500. That is a large concentration for a company of its size and reflects how central the India operation has become.
The longer build
Guidewire entered India through its 2017 acquisition of Cyence and opened a Bengaluru development centre in 2021. The new GCC is the most substantial India commitment it has made so far. The facility is pursuing LEED Platinum certification and includes academic partnerships with NIT Calicut, PES University, and Amrita University focused on cloud, data science, and machine learning.
