We want everyone to be able to read The Narrative Republic, whatever device, ability or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Write clear headlines and plain, readable prose
- Use a proper heading structure so screen readers can navigate each story
- Add descriptive alt text to images
- Offer a dark mode that is easier on the eyes
- Keep text resizable without breaking the layout
- Make the site usable by keyboard alone
Known gaps
Some older articles may have images without full alt text, and a few embedded items from other sites may not be fully accessible. We are reviewing and fixing these.
Tell us about a problem
