Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services and US retailer Best Buy have agreed that TCS will take over Best Buy’s Global Capability Centre in India.

Best Buy’s Indian entity will move to TCS so that work carries on without a break. Under a multi-year agreement, TCS will turn the centre into one built around AI, redesigning how work is done and building AI tools across Best Buy’s business.

Best Buy’s India staff will join TCS and gain access to its training programmes and roles around the world.

“Best Buy has built a strong technology organization with deep knowledge of its customers and business.”

Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Consumer Business Group, TCS

Our analysis

Best Buy has concluded that TCS can turn its India centre into an AI operation faster than it could alone. The people stay and the work carries on, but TCS now leads the change. TCS can offer the same arrangement to other companies deciding whether to run their own centre in India or hand it to a partner.
