The German chemicals giant is doubling down on India, adding a business services centre to a digital hub it announced earlier this year — both in the same city.

BASF’s Global Business Services is setting up a new Global Service Hub in Hyderabad, handling Finance and HR functions for the company’s operations worldwide. The hub will operate under a newly incorporated Indian entity — BASF Global Business Services Private Limited — and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2026.

The announcement was made in Hyderabad with a Letter of Intent handed to the Telangana government.

Why Hyderabad

BASF ran a structured evaluation across multiple locations before settling on Hyderabad. The city’s talent base, established enterprise ecosystem, and growing position in life sciences and technology tipped the decision. Hyderabad joins Berlin, Kuala Lumpur, and Montevideo as nodes in BASF’s global business services network.

What the hub will do

The centre will deliver Finance and HR services to BASF’s business units globally. BASF’s Global Business Services division already supports functions across supply chain, environment and safety, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, real estate, and internal consulting. The Hyderabad hub adds to that capacity with a focus on scalable, high-quality service delivery.

Hiring will be phased, with an emphasis on skilled talent and diverse teams.

The bigger picture for BASF in India

This is BASF’s second major hub announcement in Hyderabad this year. The company also opened a Global Digital Hub in the city earlier in 2026. Running both from the same location is deliberate — BASF sees shared geography as an advantage for collaboration between the two centres.

BASF has been in India for over 130 years. It currently employs around 2,455 people across eight production sites and 45 offices. India sales reached approximately €2.2 billion in 2025.

The dual-hub move signals that BASF is treating India not just as a market but as a core part of its global operating infrastructure.

BASF is a German chemicals company listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It generated global sales of around €60 billion in 2025.
