Truist is building an AI first Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad with Infosys, and more than 1,000 colleagues are being onboarded at the centre in October 2026. The bank is moving work it currently gets from several supplier relationships in India into one integrated operating model of its own.
Truist is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a top 10 US commercial bank, with total assets of $556 billion as of 30 June 2026.
What the centre will do
The centre brings AI, technology, data and operations work together under one roof. Infosys will help Truist build, scale and then transition it into a self sustaining centre of excellence. The model is designed to reduce the bank’s dependence on third parties and to build deep technology talent inside the bank. Truist already has a large base of contract professionals in India across engineering, data and operations.
Chief Information Officer Steve Hagerman has called the India centre a strategic investment in the bank’s future, aimed at building lasting expertise rather than just capacity.
Why Hyderabad
Hyderabad has become the leading choice for US banks and insurers setting up their own centres in India, with a large pool of engineering, data and operations talent. For Truist, it also offers a base close to the supplier teams whose work it is now bringing in house.
What it signals
Truist is following a path several US banks have taken: start with outsourced suppliers in India, then pull the work into a centre the bank owns. Using a partner to build the centre and then hand it over lets the bank move quickly while still ending up in control of its own talent.
