Theom Opens GCC in Hyderabad

Theom opened its first India office in Hyderabad in June 2026. The AI and data security startup is building engineering, product development and innovation teams there, and planned to hire more than 50 people within the quarter.

Theom is an AI and data security startup headquartered in the United States. It raised a $20 million Series A in May 2025 led by Wing VC, with the venture arms of SentinelOne, Snowflake and Databricks also investing, and it has named Fiserv, Grammarly, Tradeweb and JetBlue among its customers. The company positions itself around AI driven data governance and security, and apart from the lead investor its Series A backers are large data or security platforms.

What the centre does

Theom launched its India operations with a Hyderabad office announced on 10 June 2026. The office is building teams in engineering, product development and innovation, and the company said it planned to hire more than 50 people by the end of that quarter. Representatives of the Telangana government and the state’s AI innovation hub attended the launch. Theom said the office will strengthen its global delivery capabilities, with teams helping organisations secure sensitive data in complex cloud environments.

The Hyderabad team works closely with the US headquarters on product development and engineering. Theom’s chief executive has described a development process in which AI handles repetitive tasks while human engineers validate and supervise each stage, with teams organised into pods that work across geographies.

Why Hyderabad

Theom said it wants to tap Hyderabad’s technology talent and speed up product development, with its chief executive describing India as a place with exceptional technology talent and deep innovation capability. He has also pointed to the city’s infrastructure, its AI capability, access to cloud expertise and a growing cybersecurity community.

What it signals

For a startup that closed its Series A only a year earlier, opening an engineering office abroad is a significant commitment. Hiring more than 50 people in a single quarter would make Hyderabad a central part of Theom’s build capacity rather than a satellite. The plan to run an AI assisted development process from India also turns the office into a test case for how a young security vendor can ship product quickly with a lean team. Backing from the venture arms of large data and security platforms gives the company reason to move fast.
