SonicWall Opens GCC in Pune

SonicWall opened a development centre in Pune in October 2026, alongside its existing R&D site in Bengaluru. The cybersecurity company plans to add 400 engineering roles across AI, cloud, security research and next generation platform work.

SonicWall is a cybersecurity company with more than 30 years in the business, selling network security products to small and midsize businesses, managed service providers and IT teams. It reports more than 5 lakh customers protected across over 215 countries and territories, supported by a global network of more than 17,000 partners.

What the centre does

SonicWall announced the Pune office on 22 October 2026 as part of a long term investment plan for India. The site supports the company’s established research and development centre in Bengaluru and adds engineering and development capacity for products sold worldwide. The company says the office will also widen its access to India’s technical talent and support product innovation for customers around the world.

The company plans to add 400 engineering roles across AI, cloud technologies, cybersecurity research and next generation platform development, and says this will establish one of its largest global development centres, positioning India as a major contributor to its worldwide product strategy. It has not said how the roles will be split between Pune and Bengaluru, nor given a timeline for the hiring.

Why Pune

SonicWall pointed to India’s talent pool, its expanding digital economy and changing local cybersecurity needs. It described Pune’s technology and industrial ecosystem as especially relevant, partly because small and midsize businesses make up a core part of its customer base. It framed the office as one step in a long term investment and expansion strategy for India rather than a single project.

What it signals

Opening a second engineering site rather than only expanding Bengaluru gives SonicWall access to another talent market as it hires for AI and cloud work. The aim of building one of its largest development centres in India puts real weight on the country in the product roadmap, beyond sales and support. The roles sit in AI, cloud and security research, which are product areas rather than service functions. Linking the choice of city to its small business customers also suggests SonicWall wants engineers close to the kind of companies it sells to. With no hiring timeline, progress will be easiest to judge through future headcount updates.
