Octave Intelligence opened a 200,000 sq ft technology and innovation centre in Hyderabad’s HITEC City in August 2026, adding to teams it already had in the city. The industrial software company plans to grow to about 2,000 engineers working on software, AI, data, cloud and product development.
Octave Intelligence is an industrial software company based in Huntsville, Alabama, formed from businesses carved out of Sweden’s Hexagon. The separation was completed in May 2026, and its shares trade on Nasdaq in New York, with depository receipts on Nasdaq Stockholm. It has about 7,200 employees in more than 45 countries and about 4,500 customers in roughly 180 countries. The standalone business has about $1.6 billion in annual revenue. India is its largest single country presence, with about 1,800 employees.
What the centre does
The Global Technology and Innovation Centre in HITEC City was inaugurated on 26 August 2026. It covers about 2 lakh sq ft across several floors and includes an Experience Centre where customers and partners can see products and AI solutions demonstrated.
Teams at the centre work on software engineering, AI, data, cloud and product development, and support Octave’s global technology work. The company plans to scale the centre to 2,000 engineers in the coming years, without a fixed date. Its India operations also handle strategy, product management and marketing, and some product lines are run entirely from India. Octave has also signed a two year partnership with VIT-AP University covering AI, machine learning and software engineering.
Why Hyderabad
Octave’s chief executive cited access to skilled engineers, a strong technology ecosystem and an innovation minded culture. The company traces its India presence back close to 40 years through its Intergraph legacy and was among the first international companies to set up in Hyderabad. It also has offices in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gandhinagar. The state’s IT minister said Telangana welcomed 75 new capability centres last year and is targeting 100 more by next year.
What it signals
Opening a centre of this size within months of becoming independent signals that India will stay central to how Octave builds products. With India already its largest country by headcount, the 2,000 engineer target would deepen that reliance. The company also says India is one of its fastest growing markets, which gives the centre a commercial reason to exist alongside its engineering role. As a newly listed company, Octave’s hiring pace will likely depend on how the standalone business performs.
