Nationwide opened its Global Services Center in Hyderabad in July 2026, the US insurer’s first campus outside the United States. The centre supports a round the clock operating model across engineering, digital and business functions. Size and headcount were not disclosed.
Nationwide is a Fortune 100 insurance and financial services group headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, offering insurance, retirement plans, annuities, mutual funds and other financial products. It reported $73.2 billion in sales and premiums for 2025, up 7% on the year, and net operating income of about $4.3 billion, its fifth straight year of record growth as it enters its 100th year. Hyderabad is its first campus outside the US, adding to major locations in Columbus, Des Moines and Scottsdale.
What the centre does
Nationwide announced the Hyderabad campus on 8 July 2026. It operates as Nationwide Global Services Center Private Limited, branded Nationwide India, and builds engineering, digital and business capabilities along with supporting business functions for the wider company.
The centre forms part of Nationwide’s global 24/7 operating model, which the company said is designed to speed up innovation and decision making and lift productivity. It will recruit talent based in India to meet rising business demand and growth goals. Nationwide has not disclosed headcount or the size of the facility. The move sits alongside a wider technology push, with the company committing $1.5 billion in technology investment through 2028, including $100 million a year for AI.
Why Hyderabad
Nationwide said it chose Hyderabad for India’s highly skilled talent market and the city’s established global capability ecosystem. The Telangana government has described Hyderabad as one of the world’s leading innovation destinations for banking, financial services, insurance and capital markets, saying nine of the world’s ten largest BFSI companies run innovation and product engineering work from the city.
What it signals
For a 100 year old insurer that has never run a campus outside the US, a first overseas site is a notable step. With no headcount disclosed, the 24/7 framing is the clearest signal: it suggests Hyderabad is meant to carry live engineering and operations work around the clock, not just overflow. It also arrives as the company commits $1.5 billion to technology through 2028, giving the India team a clear set of priorities to build against.
