DigiKey Expands Its GCC in Bengaluru

DigiKey moved its India capability centre into a larger office at Sumadhura Capitol Towers in Whitefield, Bengaluru, in October 2026. The electronic components distributor started the centre in 2022 with five people and now has close to 300 staff in technology, innovation and business operations.

DigiKey is a distributor of electronic components and automation products based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. It offers more than 17 million components from over 3,000 manufacturers and has more than 4,700 team members worldwide. Its Indian subsidiary, Digi-Key Electronics & Automation Trading Private Limited, was formally launched in November 2025.

What the centre does

The India centre started in 2022 as a prototype team of five people. It now has nearly 300 staff, and in October 2026 it opened a new office at Sumadhura Capitol Towers in Whitefield, with the inauguration held on 5 October. The team had already reached nearly 300 people when the subsidiary was formally launched in November 2025, so the new office gives an established group more room rather than marking a new start.

The Bengaluru team supports innovation, technology enablement and business operations for DigiKey groups around the world. The company describes the centre as a hub for innovation and collaboration that backs its global operations, and it has said it expects further growth in hiring and capabilities from India.

Why Bengaluru

DigiKey has said the new office gives it room to attract talent and support business growth, citing the region’s engineering talent and innovation ecosystem. Its earlier launch announcement credited India’s technology ecosystem and skilled workforce, along with a long term commitment to the Indian market.

What it signals

Growing from five people to nearly 300 in about four years, and then taking a larger office, shows a centre that has moved well past its trial phase. A technology team of that size gives DigiKey more in house capacity in India to support its global operations. A formal subsidiary launch followed by a bigger office within a year points to a planned build rather than an experiment. The next marker is whether the extra space brings a clear step up in headcount.
