New Delhi: Aluminium packaging maker Ball Corporation will build a beverage can plant with two production lines in Uttar Pradesh. It is due to open in 2029.
It will be Ball’s third plant in India, after Taloja in Maharashtra and Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. Ball says it already has customer contracts to support the new plant.
“Our vision is to build a plant network in India that supports our customers and reaches the majority of states across India.”
Mandy Glew, Senior Vice President and President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, Ball Corporation
Ball came to India in 2016 and supplies cans in a range of sizes to both international and Indian drinks brands. It employs 16,000 people at more than 65 plants worldwide.

Our analysis
Ball is building for orders it already has, which takes much of the risk out of the project. A plant in the north fills the gap in its Indian network and puts it closer to more customers. It also shows that drinks in cans are becoming an everyday product in India.
