Standard Chartered is extending its affluent banking proposition into health, launching a Health and Wellness offering for clients in India in partnership with insurer Niva Bupa and US fitness wearables company WHOOP.
The bank, one of the oldest foreign lenders in India with a continuous presence of over 165 years, announced the launch on 12 February. The move takes Standard Chartered beyond traditional financial services, bundling health insurance and wearable technology alongside wealth management, with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention.
Standard Chartered is building a wider affluent proposition that ties personal wellbeing to wealth management, betting that clients in this segment want support across the healthcare journey, from preventive care and early diagnosis to treatment, recovery and wellness coaching. It follows the bank’s January refresh of its Priority Banking proposition and reinforces its pivot toward the wealth and affluent segment.
Through Niva Bupa, clients get access to ReAssure 3.0, a newly launched product offering unlimited health cover, global health cover of up to INR 5 crore, and a virtual concierge service exclusive to Standard Chartered clients covering claims, renewals and policy servicing.
Through WHOOP, clients get wearable devices tracking health and wellness metrics, personalised coaching, and access to events, experiences, insights and content tailored to the bank’s affluent clients in India.
Aditya Mandloi, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking, India and South Asia, Standard Chartered, said:
“True prosperity goes beyond personal and financial capital, it also encompasses personal health and holistic wellbeing. This belief underpins our collaboration with Niva Bupa and WHOOP which bring together banking, protection and cutting-edge wearable technology to help clients bridge the gap between financial wellness and personal wellbeing.”
Krishnan Ramachandran, MD and CEO of Niva Bupa, pointed to a decade-long association with the bank, adding:
“We are proud to bring our newly launched ReAssure 3.0 with unlimited health cover to Standard Chartered customers, alongside an exclusive virtual concierge that offers end-to-end support across claims, renewals, and policy servicing, and global health cover of up to INR 5 crore.”
Todd Stiefler, VP of Enterprise at WHOOP, said the partnership reflected a shared vision to integrate proactive health management into daily life, empowering clients to make informed decisions using science-backed insights.
