Prudential plc has appointed Amit Dave as CEO and Managing Director of Prudential Health India, subject to regulatory approval, as the UK-listed insurer builds out its health ambitions in the Indian market.
Announced on 13 April, the appointment sees Dave succeed Amar Joshi, who is leaving to explore other opportunities. Dave brings over two decades of experience across strategy, proposition design, agency distribution, bancassurance and partnerships, most recently as President and Chief Distribution Officer at Tata AIA Life Insurance. He will report to Naveen Tahilyani, Regional CEO for India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Africa, and Group Agency and Health.
Prudential also named Abhishek Saraf as Chief Operating Officer, reporting to Dave. Saraf has over 25 years within the Prudential ecosystem and most recently served as Group Chief Actuary, working across Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Compliance, Products and Data Analytics.
The outgoing Joshi had led Prudential Health India from joint venture stage toward securing its operating licence, contributing across strategy, people, product and operational capabilities.
Naveen Tahilyani said:
“Amit and Abhishek will bring deep agency and insurance expertise, strong operational capabilities and leadership to Prudential’s health business in India. Together, they will lead Prudential Health India through its next phase of growth, including securing regulatory approvals and building a differentiated health proposition that is fully aligned with Prudential’s global health strategy.”
The appointments come as Prudential Health India works toward its operating licence, with the business still at a pre-launch stage. Prudential plc provides life and health insurance and asset management across Greater China, ASEAN, India and Africa, with dual primary listings in Hong Kong and London.
