Target in India has opened a new 830,000 square foot workplace at Embassy Manyata Business Park in Bengaluru, directly across the road from its existing office. The ten floor building, unveiled at the end of September 2026, joins the older site to form a single connected campus with room for more than 5,700 team members.
The parent, Minneapolis based Target Corporation, is one of the largest retailers in the United States. It runs more than 2,000 stores across all 50 states alongside its online business, employs over 400,000 people and posted net sales of about $105 billion in 2025. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
What the centre will do
The Bengaluru team works across almost every part of the retailer: merchandising, supply chain, fulfilment, stores, cybersecurity, digital and marketing. Technology accounts for roughly 40 percent of the India workforce. The company describes the unit as an integrated headquarters rather than a support office, and it says India based teams design and deliver around 80 percent of Target’s store remodels. The new building adds 22 collaboration spaces and 25 meeting rooms on each floor, a 1,200 seat cafeteria, a gym, a yoga and dance studio and seven wellness rooms.
Why Bengaluru
Target has built its India operation in Bengaluru for more than two decades, and the new building keeps everything on one campus instead of spreading teams across the city. The lease, with Embassy Office Parks REIT, covers about 831,000 square feet over ten years at a total rent of roughly Rs 1,250 crore. The city’s deep pool of retail technology, analytics and supply chain talent, documented on our Bengaluru GCC page, remains the main draw.
Target’s India footprint
Target in India has operated for more than 21 years and has grown into what its leadership calls a second headquarters. It is led by Andrea Zimmerman, Senior Vice President and President, Target in India, who has said the aim is to raise the centre’s influence on company strategy rather than simply add headcount. Many leaders based in India now run global teams, and an apprenticeship programme feeds a steady share of hires into full time roles.
What it signals
The move shows how mature retail centres in India are investing in space for the long haul even as their focus shifts from scale to ownership of work. A ten year lease on a purpose built tower signals that Target sees its Bengaluru unit as permanent infrastructure for the business, not a cost lever to be dialled up or down.
