Nike Plans New Bengaluru Campus for FY28 to Serve Global Brands

Nike plans to build a new corporate campus in Bengaluru, targeted for its 2028 fiscal year, to support Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse worldwide. The company disclosed the plan in early October 2026 alongside its first quarter results. India based staff will move to the campus in phases from FY28, while the site, footprint and development partner are due to be named in 2027.

Nike, based near Beaverton, Oregon, is the world’s largest sportswear company, with revenue of about $46.3 billion in fiscal 2025 and roughly 77,800 employees. It sells the Jordan brand under its own umbrella and owns Converse. Trading has been tough. Revenue for the quarter to August 31, 2026 fell 4% to $11.2 billion, and the company expects full year sales to drop by a high single digit percentage.

What the centre will do

Nike says the campus will help it chase commercial opportunities, support manufacturing growth and build new capabilities in India and for its global business. It is expected to house operational, design and supply support teams serving both the Indian market and Nike’s worldwide production network, with tighter control over vendor coordination, local merchandising and faster product creation.

Venky Alagirisamy, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has said Nike will deepen its operations and partnerships in India and that Bengaluru will play a growing role in the company’s future. Nike frames the campus as a long term capability build, not a temporary shared services setup. It will sit alongside the company’s major campuses in Beaverton, New York and Shanghai.

Why Bengaluru

Nike already has its India technology arm in the city, and Bengaluru remains the country’s largest office market, with about a quarter of national gross leasing in the first half of 2026. The city’s depth in technology, design and supply chain talent fits the mix of roles Nike describes. The company has also cited India’s importance as a growth market and manufacturing hub.

Nike’s India footprint

Nike India Technology Center Private Limited has been growing at Bagmane Tech Park. In 2026 it took about 125,600 sq ft across the Olympia and Tridib buildings on five year leases worth roughly ₹121 crore in total rent. Those leases began between January and August 2026, ahead of the new campus. Nike has not disclosed its current India headcount.

What it signals

The timing is striking. Nike is cutting corporate roles from 2027 under a restructuring that splits the business into three regions, with Asia Pacific and Greater China run from Singapore. Even so, it is committing to a permanent India campus. That suggests global consumer brands under cost pressure see India centres as part of the answer rather than a line to trim.
