Mythic AI has set up an engineering centre of excellence in Bengaluru, announced in September 2026. The team has about 20 people today, and the company aims to take it past 60 by the end of the first quarter of 2027, depending on hiring conditions. Its first focus is Vanguard, Mythic’s next generation AI inference platform.
Mythic is a US semiconductor company founded in 2012, with offices in Austin and Palo Alto. It develops analogue compute in memory chips, which run AI calculations inside or close to the memory array instead of shuttling data back and forth to a separate processor. The aim is to cut energy use, latency and data movement in AI inference. In December 2025 the company announced an oversubscribed funding round of $125 million. It has also acquired Videantis, a German processor IP company, and is working with Honda on an analogue AI chip for future vehicles. Taner Ozcelik, a former automotive executive at Nvidia, is chairman and chief executive.
What the centre will do
The Bengaluru team starts with front end design, physical design and design for test work on Vanguard. It currently handles about a quarter of the Vanguard programme, a share that could rise towards half. Over time its scope is set to widen into product engineering, test and characterisation, systems engineering and intelligent sensing chips. Hiring covers chip design, physical design, design for test, systems engineering, applications engineering and other specialist semiconductor roles. Some of the die to die packaging work may also be driven from India.
Why Bengaluru
Manoj Kumar, vice president of Mythic India, leads the local operation. The company has pointed to Bengaluru’s mix of digital and analogue design, software, product engineering and semiconductor testing skills as the reason for the choice. Few cities can supply all of those disciplines at once, which matters for a chip startup that needs design and test expertise under one roof.
Mythic AI’s India footprint
The centre of excellence is Mythic’s first engineering base in India and its main presence in the country. Alongside engineering, the company is building a commercial presence and is assessing India for data centre inference and robotics deployments. Its target markets span data centres, automotive and driver assistance systems, robotics, enterprise AI, defence and edge computing. Chip manufacturing or advanced packaging in India has been discussed as a long term possibility, but no facility has been announced.
What it signals
Mythic joins a growing list of chip companies placing core design work in Bengaluru rather than only support functions. For a young startup, putting a quarter or more of its flagship platform in a new centre within months is a strong vote of confidence in the city’s semiconductor talent.
