Alcon Global Services India, the capability arm of Swiss eye care company Alcon, has opened its second office in Bengaluru. The new site was inaugurated in July 2026 and brings several of the company’s enterprise functions together under one roof as its India team grows.
Alcon is one of the world’s largest eye care companies, with headquarters in Geneva and a history stretching back about 75 years. It makes surgical equipment and devices for cataract, retinal and refractive procedures, as well as contact lenses and eye care products. The company serves patients and eye care professionals in around 140 countries and posted net sales of $10.3 billion for 2025, up 5 percent on the year. It became an independent listed company in 2019 after its spin off from Novartis.
What the centre will do
The second office houses a broad mix of global work. Teams there cover information technology, research and development, and digital transformation, alongside global customer operations. It also hosts quality, regulatory affairs and supply chain analytics work, and the governance of Alcon’s end to end quote to cash process, which links sales orders with billing and collections. The site includes a talent development space and room for innovation work that draws on staff from across the business. Company leaders have said the Bengaluru centre is taking on a larger role in Alcon’s global commercial priorities.
Why Bengaluru
Bengaluru gives Alcon access to the country’s largest pool of software engineers, data specialists and life sciences professionals in one place. Many medical technology and pharmaceutical companies already run capability centres in the city, which deepens the supply of people with regulatory, quality and healthcare IT experience. Opening a second office in the same city lets Alcon grow while keeping teams close to its existing leadership and processes.
Alcon’s India footprint
Alcon already ran a global services office in Bengaluru before this opening. The India team has worked across IT, analytics and commercial support, and the second site now adds space for regulated and customer facing functions. The second office signals that the original site was no longer enough for the scope of work moving to India. Alcon has not disclosed a headcount for the expanded centre.
What it signals
Alcon’s move fits a wider pattern among medtech and life sciences companies that are expanding their Indian centres beyond IT into regulated functions such as quality, regulatory affairs and commercial operations. Those areas demand specialised knowledge, and Bengaluru’s mature healthcare talent base makes it a natural place to build them.
