Meta operates Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in India, which is one of its largest user markets. Its Indian staff work mainly in sales, marketing, partnerships, operations, policy and legal functions, with a growing engineering presence.
Ownership and structure
Meta operates in India through Facebook India Online Services Private Limited. It holds a 9.99 percent stake in Jio Platforms and a 30 percent stake, through Facebook Overseas, in Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited, a joint venture in which Reliance Industries holds 70 percent.

India is Meta's largest user market and an advertising sales business, as well as the home of strategic stakes in Reliance's digital and AI ventures.

In April 2020 Meta, then Facebook, agreed to invest Rs 43,574 crore for a 9.99 percent stake in Jio Platforms. In October 2025 it and Reliance Industries committed an initial Rs 855 crore to their AI joint venture.
Meta's India business
Meta began operating in India in 2010. Facebook India posted revenue from operations of 3,792.91 crore rupees in fiscal 2025, up 25 percent.
Its standalone profit rose nearly 28 percent to 647.45 crore rupees in fiscal 2025. In 2025 Meta began building an engineering team in Bengaluru focused on internal productivity tools.
