Mercedes-Benz's India business
Mercedes-Benz India was established in 1994 and pioneered the luxury car market in the country. The Chakan plant was set up in 2009 on 100 acres, and production at an expanded facility on the site began in June 2015.
The company has the largest installed production capacity of any luxury carmaker in the country. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India was set up in Bengaluru in 1996 and runs a satellite office in Pune.
