Ownership and structure
Honeywell holds 75 percent of the listed Honeywell Automation India Limited, which began as a joint venture with the Tata group before Tata exited in 2004. Its technology centres and other businesses run through separate subsidiaries. Honeywell Automation India Limited is listed on the NSE and BSE under the symbol HONAUT.

Honeywell had more than 10,000 employees in India in June 2022, including over 5,000 engineers. It operates four technology centres in Bengaluru, Madurai, Hyderabad and Gurugram, with Bengaluru the largest.
The Madurai centre marked 20 years of operations in June 2022.

- 1984: Tata Process Control Private Limited was incorporated, the company that became Honeywell Automation India.
- 1987: A technical collaboration with Honeywell gave the company a licence to make Honeywell process control systems in India.
- 1988: The company became Tata Honeywell Limited, jointly promoted by Tata Industries and Honeywell, and set up its Pune facility.
- 2004: The Tata group sold its stake to Honeywell.
