Itineris opened a technology and innovation centre in Hyderabad in February 2026, bringing its India team into one hub. The utility software company plans to reach 150 professionals within 18 to 24 months, building its UMAX and Verity platforms for utilities in North America and Europe.
Itineris is a software company based in Ghent, Belgium that serves water and energy utilities, with offices in North America, Belgium, the UK and India and more than 550 staff. Its main products are UMAX, a utility platform built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, and real time data tools from its wholly owned subsidiary Verity.
What the centre does
Itineris announced its Hyderabad hub on 26 February 2026, and a senior official of Telangana’s IT, electronics and communications department led the inauguration. The centre brings the company’s India based employees into one location fully integrated into its global operating model, following years of regional collaboration and an 18 month strategic plan.
The hub supports joint development of the UMAX and Verity product portfolios and gives customers worldwide round the clock availability. Itineris plans to grow it to 150 professionals over the next 18 to 24 months, building platforms for water and energy utilities in the US and Europe. The hub also builds on talent sourcing work the company has carried out in India over the past three years. Itineris has not disclosed current headcount or floor space.
Why Hyderabad
Itineris has not set out detailed reasons for picking Hyderabad over other Indian cities. Its chief executive said India has long been an important part of the company’s global talent strategy and pointed to the region’s IT expertise, adding that formalising its presence in Hyderabad strengthens foundations built over many years and supports its aim of continuous innovation and seamless support for utilities worldwide.
What it signals
Itineris already had people in India, so the real change is structure. Moving from scattered teams to one hub with a target of 150 gives the company a single place to hold product ownership, and against a total of more than 550 staff, that would make India a substantial part of its workforce. Round the clock coverage is the other practical gain for a vendor serving utilities on two continents. Three years of hiring groundwork before the launch suggests the 150 target rests on an existing pipeline rather than a cold start. The test will be whether Hyderabad takes on core product decisions or stays focused on delivery.
