Magnum Ice Cream Company Opens 67,000 Sq Ft Pune GCC

The Magnum Ice Cream Company opened a 67,000 sq ft global capability centre in Pune on 4 September 2026. The centre runs finance, procurement, supply chain, marketing and master data work for the company’s global operations. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra inaugurated it.

The Magnum Ice Cream Company is the world’s largest ice cream business. It became independent on 1 July 2025 after separating from Unilever and is headquartered in Amsterdam. It owns four of the world’s five biggest ice cream brands, Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, Cornetto and Heartbrand, and sells in 80 markets. It has about 19,000 employees, 32 factories, 13 research and development centres and three million freezer cabinets, and its shares trade in Amsterdam, New York and London.

What the centre will do

Beyond running core business processes, the Pune teams will work on AI, automation, analytics and digital transformation across the group. The company now calls Pune its most advanced Global Business Solutions location worldwide and its most innovative capability centre. It has not disclosed a headcount for the site. The company’s chief financial officer, Abhijit Bhattacharya, described the opening as phase one of a long term commitment to Maharashtra, which suggests more capacity could follow.

Why Pune

The centre follows a memorandum of understanding the company signed with the Government of Maharashtra in April 2025. The company treats Maharashtra as its first choice base in India, and the state already accounts for two thirds of its Indian workforce. Pune brings a large pool of finance, supply chain and analytics talent, and the city has grown quickly as a destination for shared services and capability centres run by consumer and industrial groups.

The Magnum Ice Cream Company’s India footprint

In India the company sells under the Kwality Wall’s name, a brand that has been part of the country’s ice cream market for more than seven decades. It runs a manufacturing facility in Nashik and has made Mumbai its regional headquarters for the Middle East, Turkey and South Asia. In July 2026 it opened a 13,000 sq ft research, design and innovation centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru, with a lab and a digitally enabled pilot plant for product and packaging development tailored to Indian tastes.

What it signals

Newly separated companies need to rebuild the finance, procurement and data functions they once shared with a former parent, and India is often where that capacity goes. The Pune centre shows a young listed company choosing to build those capabilities in house from the start, and it adds another consumer goods name to Pune’s growing roster of global business services hubs.
