Regeneron Plans Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is setting up a Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad, its second base in India after Bengaluru. The US biotech signed an MoU with the Telangana government in May 2026 and expects the centre to start operating in the second half of the year. It plans to grow the site to several hundred roles over the coming years, and the first job openings are already live.

Founded and still led by physician scientists, Regeneron discovers, develops and sells medicines for serious diseases. It has 15 approved medicines on the market and close to 50 more candidates in its pipeline. Its treatments reach patients in more than 100 countries, it runs clinical trials in about 60, and it employs more than 15,000 people worldwide.

What the centre will do

The Hyderabad centre will support global work across drug development, digital technology and commercial operations. Its core functions include clinical data management, statistical programming, clinical trial operations, artificial intelligence and analytics. This is the data heavy engine room behind running trials and getting medicines approved, and it scales well when it sits close to a large pool of trained specialists.

Bari Kowal, a senior vice president at Regeneron, has described the centre as a key step in scaling the company’s global operations. Rajiv Onat, executive director of the new centre, has said its early focus will be on developing talent and building a culture centred on its employees.

Why Hyderabad

The city now hosts more than 450 capability centres and has built deep benches of talent in biotechnology, life sciences, AI, digital technology and analytics. For a company whose India brief leans on clinical data and statistics, that blend of scientific and technical skill is the draw. Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s minister for IT, industries and commerce, welcomed the investment when the MoU was signed.

Regeneron’s India footprint

Regeneron came to India in 2022 with a presence in Bengaluru. The Hyderabad centre marks a significant step up from that base and gives the company a second Indian location with a much wider remit. The company has said it sees India as a long term strategic partner for its global business.

What it signals

Large drugmakers have spent years building analytics and clinical operations teams in India. Regeneron’s move shows that a research driven biotech, not just big pharma, now sees value in running core trial and data functions from the country. It also adds weight to Hyderabad’s pull as the first choice for life sciences capability centres.
