Illumia Opens New Chennai Office for Its Global Capability Centre

Illumia has moved its Chennai global capability centre into a new office at International Tech Park, opening the space on 27 April 2026. The site houses about 80 people, and the company is hiring for cloud engineering, information security and product engineering roles.

Illumia is the new name for Transact + CBORD, the business formed when Roper Technologies combined the two companies in 2024. Transact built payment and campus identity systems, while CBORD focused on foodservice, security and commerce software. The merged company announced the Illumia name in December 2025 and adopted it in 2026, under chief executive Greg Brown. Its platforms run payments, access control, dining and credentialing for more than 10,000 universities, hospitals and senior living organisations. Illumia is a business unit of Roper Technologies, the Nasdaq listed software group.

What the centre will do

The Chennai team works on technology, product and cloud, and also handles business functions such as finance, marketing and human resources. The current hiring push is aimed at the engineering side, with cloud, security and product roles leading the list. The new office was opened by chief technology officer Taran Lent and general manager Srinivasgopal Raman, who leads the Chennai operation.

Why Chennai

Illumia did not pick Chennai for this move. It already had a team there and chose to give it better space rather than relocate. Company leaders have pointed to the strength of Chennai’s technical talent, and the city’s lower costs and established tech parks along its IT corridor make it a natural place to grow a mid sized engineering team. More on the city is on our Chennai GCC page.

Illumia’s India footprint

The company has worked from Chennai for nearly 14 years, well before the merger and rebrand. Chennai is its only confirmed India location, and the new office is an upgrade to that long running base rather than a fresh entry.

What it signals

Mid sized American software firms owned by larger groups increasingly treat their Indian teams as product engineering centres, not support units. Illumia’s focus on cloud and security hiring after a merger and a rebrand suggests its Chennai team will carry more of the work of building one combined platform.
