Fuel Cycle, the Los Angeles based consumer insights software company, has launched a global capability centre in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The centre was unveiled in September 2026 with an initial planned capacity of 50 people and room to grow in the quarters ahead. It adds to the growing cluster of GCCs in the Mumbai region.
Founded in 2007, Fuel Cycle builds software that brands use to run market research. Its platform combines quantitative surveys, qualitative research and user experience testing, and the company now positions it as an AI native insights platform. Its products include an AI orchestrated research tool, a qualitative UX research tool and an online community product that lets brands stay in regular contact with their customers. Clients come from technology, media, retail, consumer goods, healthcare and financial services. The company lists a workforce of more than 100 people.
What the centre will do
The Navi Mumbai centre will focus on engineering, artificial intelligence and product development. Its teams will build core product capabilities, strengthen the company’s data and engineering infrastructure, and work closely with colleagues in the United States and other markets. Hiring will cover AI and machine learning, data engineering, product engineering, UX, research technology and cloud infrastructure. Over the next three to four years, the company expects the centre to take on greater ownership of global product development. Daryush Laqab, Fuel Cycle’s chief product and AI officer, has described India as a product and AI hub for the company rather than simply a delivery location.
Why Navi Mumbai
Vashi offers a lower cost alternative to central Mumbai while staying within reach of the wider metropolitan talent pool. Navi Mumbai has steadily built up office parks and technology campuses, and its rail and road links make it practical for engineers commuting from across the region. For a company of Fuel Cycle’s size, a compact centre in an established suburban business district is an efficient way to start.
Fuel Cycle’s India footprint
The company has not disclosed any earlier operations in India, which makes the Vashi centre the starting point for its presence in the country. Starting at 50 seats keeps the bet measured, but the stated plan to hand the centre a larger share of global product work over several years suggests India is meant to become a core part of how the company builds software.
What it signals
Fuel Cycle is part of a newer wave of GCCs set up by smaller, venture scale software firms rather than large enterprises. These companies are coming to India for AI and data talent from the start, with product ownership in view rather than support work. The choice of Navi Mumbai also shows that the Mumbai region is drawing technology centres beyond its traditional banking and finance base.
