DoorDash Opens First India Office in Hyderabad, Eyes 3,000 Staff

DoorDash opened its first office in India on 30 September 2026, a talent hub in Hyderabad‘s HITEC City. It starts with about 500 people and plans to grow past 3,000 within two years.

The US company runs one of the largest local commerce platforms in the world, connecting consumers with restaurants, grocers and other merchants and the couriers it calls Dashers. It posted revenue of 13.7 billion dollars for 2025, up 38 percent, and completed its acquisition of the UK delivery firm Deliveroo in October 2025. DoorDash now operates in more than 40 countries and serves over 56 million monthly active consumers.

What the centre will do

The first teams in Hyderabad belong to Customer Experience and Integrity, known internally as CXI, along with general and administrative functions. The site will act as an internal support hub for consumers, merchants and Dashers across DoorDash’s markets. It becomes only the third company owned CXI centre in the world, joining Tempe in Arizona and Mexico City. Over time DoorDash expects to widen the remit, with roles in integrity, fraud review and technical operations under consideration. Chief Financial Officer Ravi Inukonda attended the launch alongside Jenna Kohnke, senior director for workforce strategy and talent acquisition operations. Telangana minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated the office.

Why Hyderabad

DoorDash pointed to the city’s talent base and technology ecosystem. The state government framed the arrival as a fit with Hyderabad’s growing hyperlocal commerce cluster, where global and Indian delivery and retail platforms already run large operations. Telangana says the city hosts more than 500 capability centres employing over five lakh people, and it wants that workforce to double by 2029.

DoorDash’s India footprint

Hyderabad is DoorDash’s first full office in India, but not its first Indian team. The company already employs engineers in Pune, where job listings show it building data platform and tooling teams, including its Foundations Data group. The Hyderabad hub adds a large operations arm to that smaller engineering presence.

What it signals

Most capability centres in India start with technology work. DoorDash is doing the reverse, leading with customer support and trust functions and keeping them in house rather than outsourcing them. That reflects how central customer experience and fraud control have become to delivery platforms operating at the scale of billions of orders a year, and a hiring plan of 3,000 makes this one of the larger new centres of 2026.
