Billtrust, the American B2B payments and accounts receivable software company, formally inaugurated its global capability centre in Hyderabad in September 2026. The company has committed ₹450 crore over three years to the centre, which already crossed 100 employees within six months of starting operations. Telangana’s IT minister opened the facility in the presence of chief executive Grant Halloran and members of the global leadership team.
Billtrust builds software that helps mid market and enterprise sellers turn B2B invoices into cash. Its platform covers invoicing, payments and collections, and the company has been adding agentic AI tools that automate parts of the receivables workflow. It serves thousands of customers worldwide and has been privately held since EQT Private Equity completed a take private acquisition at the end of 2022. Grant Halloran took over as chief executive in December 2025 after senior roles at several enterprise software companies.
What the centre will do
The Hyderabad office sits in the Mindspace business park in Madhapur and covers about 40,000 square feet, with room for roughly 250 people. It is meant to work as an extension of Billtrust’s core product and operations teams rather than a back office. The company has said it wants to grow its Hyderabad workforce to about 1,000 people over time, which would make India one of its largest talent bases. The early hiring pace, 100 people in half a year, suggests the centre is being built out quickly.
Why Hyderabad
Hyderabad has become one of the busiest locations in India for new capability centres, particularly for American software and financial technology companies. Madhapur and the wider HITEC City corridor offer ready office space and a deep pool of engineers, product managers and finance operations staff. The state government actively courts such investments, and the ministerial presence at the opening reflects how closely Telangana tracks large hiring commitments.
Billtrust’s India footprint
The Hyderabad centre now anchors Billtrust’s presence in India. The ₹450 crore commitment and the stated headcount goal mark a significant step for a company whose workforce has historically been concentrated in the United States.
What it signals
Billtrust’s move fits a wider pattern of privately held American software firms building engineering and operations depth in India as they push AI features into their products. Payments and receivables automation require both product engineering and domain knowledge in finance operations, a mix Hyderabad now supplies at scale. Whether the centre reaches its 1,000 person target will depend on how quickly Billtrust can keep hiring at its opening pace.
