Barclays Opens 317,000 Sq Ft Gurugram Office for 4,000 Staff

Barclays opened a new office at DLF Downtown in Gurugram in February 2026, its second site in the National Capital Region after Noida. The 317,000 square foot space is designed to seat about 4,000 people.

The London based bank describes itself as a UK centred leader in global finance. It runs five divisions: a UK consumer bank, a corporate bank, private banking and wealth management, a large investment bank and a specialist consumer bank in the United States. Group Chief Executive C S Venkatakrishnan has said India is now the bank’s second largest footprint after the UK.

What the centre will do

The Gurugram office will house analytics, operations, customer service and finance teams that serve the group worldwide. The bank presents it as a base for more technology driven, higher value work and for closer collaboration with international teams. Praveen Kumar, chief executive of Barclays Global Service Centre in India, called the opening the start of the next phase of growth.

Why Gurugram

The capital region already hosts Barclays’ long running Noida campus, so a second site lets the bank recruit from a wider catchment without leaving a talent market it knows well. Gurugram brings a dense supply of finance, analytics and service professionals, plus modern Grade A office stock such as DLF Downtown. Our Gurugram GCC page tracks the other global firms building there.

Barclays’ India footprint

Barclays has operated in India for close to 37 years. Its banking arm offers corporate finance, M and A advice, debt capital markets, transaction banking and wealth services, and moved into a new Mumbai office in December 2024. It has also recently added £210 million of fresh capital to its Indian operations. Its Global Service Centre delivers technology, operations and functions work from Pune, Mumbai, Noida and Chennai, with Pune home to a campus of about one million square feet.

What it signals

Large British and European lenders have relied on India for operations for years. The difference now is the kind of work and the spread of locations: Barclays is adding analytics and finance capacity in a fresh city rather than simply enlarging one campus, a hedge against concentration that more financial GCCs are adopting.
