Airbnb Leases 46,000 Sq Ft in Gurugram for India GCC

Airbnb has taken 46,437 sq ft of office space in DLF Cyber City, Gurugram, to house its global capability centre in India. The lease, which surfaced in May and June 2026, covers the 21st floor of Tower A in Building No. 5 and is held by a dedicated Indian entity, Airbnb Global Capability Center Private Limited.

Founded in San Francisco in 2008 by Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk, Airbnb runs one of the largest short stay marketplaces in the world. It counts more than 5.5 million hosts and over 9 million active listings across more than 220 countries and regions, and guests have checked in more than 2.5 billion times since the platform began. The company posted revenue of about $12.2 billion in 2025 with a global workforce of roughly 8,200.

What the centre will do

The Gurugram unit is set up to support Airbnb’s global technology, analytics, finance and operations work, drawing on India’s pool of skilled professionals. Airbnb has not disclosed a headcount target or named a leader for the centre.

The commercial terms show a long view. The lease runs for five years from October 1, 2025, at a starting rent of ₹132.5 per sq ft a month, or about ₹61.53 lakh, with a 5% annual escalation. Airbnb has paid a refundable security deposit of ₹5.54 crore and secured 38 dedicated parking slots.

Why Gurugram

DLF Cyber City is the densest cluster of multinational offices in the National Capital Region, with ready Grade A towers, metro access and a short drive to Delhi’s international airport. That makes it a natural first stop for a consumer internet company that wants proximity to senior talent in finance, analytics and product, and to its own India commercial team in the region. Airbnb has not given its own reasons for the choice of city.

Airbnb’s India footprint

Airbnb has run an India market business for about a decade. Amanpreet Bajaj became country manager in 2015 and later took charge of a wider region spanning India and Southeast Asia. Brian Chesky has described India as one of the company’s fastest growing markets and has said Airbnb intends to play a long game there. The new entity marks a shift from a market team focused on hosts and guests to a centre that serves the global company.

What it signals

Consumer internet firms have tended to keep core engineering close to Silicon Valley. Airbnb setting up a separate capability entity in Gurugram suggests the travel platform now sees India as a place for global support work, not only a growth market. It also adds weight to Gurugram’s case as the main northern alternative to Bengaluru and Hyderabad for US technology companies.
