Caterpillar's India business
Caterpillar has worked with India since the 1930s and has more than 50 years of manufacturing in the country. Its Tiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu, Caterpillar's first production unit in India, marked its 50th anniversary in 2021 with over 1,300 employees.
The Hosur plant makes engines, generator sets and transmissions, and the Aurangabad plant makes Perkins diesel engines. Caterpillar announced a Rs 500 crore investment to expand its Tamil Nadu operations.
