Woodside Energy formally opened its office in Bengaluru in September 2026, home to a hub called Woodside Global Solutions. It is the Australian company’s eleventh overseas office and its first in India. The team handles digital and technology work alongside finance and operations support for the wider group.
Woodside is Australia’s largest listed energy company and is headquartered in Perth. It produced a record 198.8 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2025 and booked operating revenue of about US$13 billion. Its portfolio spans LNG and oil assets in Australia, the Sangomar field off Senegal, the Scarborough gas project and the Louisiana LNG development in the United States.
What the centre will do
The Bengaluru hub concentrates on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science and product engineering, with automation and business intelligence also part of the mix. Finance and operations teams sit alongside the technology groups. Staff work directly with colleagues across Woodside’s global locations, and the company sees the centre complementing its established expertise in Perth and Houston.
Kristine Leo, Woodside’s vice president and India country manager, has described the city as giving the company access to exceptional talent. Chief financial officer Graham Tiver attended the formal opening, which Woodside framed as an investment in a city that is helping shape global business. The company has not disclosed a headcount for the centre.
Why Bengaluru
Woodside chose Bengaluru for its technology ecosystem, its depth of digital talent and its standing as one of the world’s leading innovation hubs. The company also tied the move to the warming economic relationship between Australia and India, which gives an Australian energy major extra reason to build a presence in the country.
Woodside’s India footprint
The Bengaluru hub is Woodside’s first office in India and marks its entry into the country as an employer. The company is recruiting in the city for engineering, data and technology roles, and it now lists India as one of the regions on its global careers page. The hub gives it a third major base for digital work after Perth and Houston.
What it signals
Oil and gas majors from Europe and the United States have run large technology centres in India for years. Woodside’s arrival shows the model spreading to Australian energy groups as well. With several large projects moving toward production, the company needs data, automation and cybersecurity capacity at scale, and Bengaluru is the obvious place to build it.
