Syneos Health opened a 137,000 sq ft Global Life Sciences and Technology Centre in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on 23 September 2026. The site starts with more than 700 professionals and is the company’s largest in Asia and its third largest anywhere. Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated it.
Syneos Health is a biopharmaceutical solutions company based in Morrisville, North Carolina, that helps drug makers run clinical trials and bring medicines to market. It was formed when INC Research combined with inVentiv Health and took the Syneos name in January 2018. A consortium of Elliott Investment Management, Patient Square Capital and Veritas Capital took the company private in a deal valued at about $7.1 billion including debt, which closed in September 2023.
What the centre will do
The centre brings clinical development, patient safety, medical affairs, commercialisation, technology, AI and corporate functions under one roof. A large part of the work is applied AI for regulated settings, including tools for clinical protocol design, patient recruitment, predictive site selection and study oversight. Teams will also automate pharmacovigilance case processing and safety signal detection using language models, and build AI for commercial strategy and market access. Global leaders will sit in Hyderabad and run work for customers worldwide, and the company expects headcount to grow over the coming years.
Why Hyderabad
Hyderabad offers a full life sciences chain, from bulk drugs and generics to vaccines, contract manufacturing and research, alongside one of the country’s deepest technology talent pools. That combination suits a business that needs scientists, clinicians and engineers working side by side. The city already hosts capability centres for several large pharma companies, and the state government has made life sciences a priority in its push to attract more of them. Syneos Health’s India footprint
Syneos Health describes the Hyderabad opening as part of a long term commitment to India and is positioning the country as a strategic growth hub rather than a delivery outpost. The senior team at the launch included the chief digital and information officer, the chief technology officer, the head of operational excellence, the general manager for India and strategic growth hubs, and the global head of AI and engineering. Their presence signals how central the site is to the company’s technology plans.
What it signals
Contract research and commercialisation firms sit at the heart of drug development, and their move to place AI and data work in India mirrors what large pharma companies are already doing in Hyderabad. A site of this size, with leadership roles based locally, suggests the city is moving up from back office support toward owning core parts of the clinical trial and drug launch process.
