Linde + Wiemann, the German maker of lightweight structural parts for cars, has opened a technology focused global capability centre in Gurugram. The centre began work in July 2026. It was set up under a build and operate arrangement with the Indian consulting firm Primus Partners, which used the project to launch its own GCC services business from a new Gurugram base.
Headquartered in Dillenburg, Linde + Wiemann has more than eight decades of history in automotive supply. It makes crash relevant body in white components such as A pillars, B pillars, impact beams and cross car beams, along with tubular assemblies and hot formed parts that help carmakers cut weight. The company employs more than 2,300 people across sites in eight countries, including Germany, the United States, China, Spain, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Hungary and South Africa. Its customer list spans around 30 international vehicle makers, among them BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Ford.
What the centre will do
The Gurugram team supports the group’s global operations rather than a single plant or market. Its first remit covers enterprise resource planning, technology infrastructure, business intelligence, finance, and sales and supply chain work. The plan is to grow the unit into a fuller centre of excellence over time, adding engineering, design and digital capabilities once the core enterprise functions are running smoothly. The company has not disclosed a headcount target for the centre.
Why Gurugram
Gurugram sits at the heart of the National Capital Region’s automotive and manufacturing belt, which gives a parts maker access to engineers who already understand vehicle programmes and supplier networks. Haryana introduced a dedicated Global Capability Centres Policy in 2026, and the state already hosts more than 270 such centres. The project was framed as aligned with that policy. Proximity to Delhi and an established pool of finance and IT talent add to the case.
Linde + Wiemann’s India footprint
India is not new territory for Linde + Wiemann. In 2019 the JBM Group, the Indian auto components conglomerate, acquired a significant stake in the German company through its flagship unit Neel Metal Products. The deal tied Linde + Wiemann’s European engineering base to an Indian partner with deep roots in the NCR auto cluster. The new capability centre adds a services and technology layer to that relationship, giving the group an in house team in India for the back office and systems work that supports its global plants.
What it signals
The move shows midsized European auto suppliers following the larger carmakers into the GCC model. Many start with enterprise systems and finance, where processes are standard and easy to move, before layering on engineering. It also points to Gurugram’s growing pull for manufacturing linked capability centres, helped by Haryana’s new policy push and a rising number of firms that build and run these units for clients.
