Cohere Health, the American clinical intelligence company that works with health insurers, launched a global capability centre in Hyderabad in February 2026. The company describes the centre as a hub for AI driven innovation, clinical intelligence and enterprise support, working closely with its teams in the United States. Himanshu Gandhi leads the operation as site general manager for Cohere Health India.
Based in Boston, Cohere Health sells a platform that helps health plans handle prior authorization, payment accuracy and related clinical reviews. Its software digitizes authorization requests, checks them against medical guidelines using clinically trained AI, and connects to providers’ electronic health record systems. In 2025 the company raised a $90 million Series C round led by Temasek, taking total funding to about $200 million. At that point it worked with close to 600,000 providers and processed more than 12 million prior authorization requests a year. Siva Namasivayam is co founder and chief executive.
What the centre will do
The Hyderabad team covers AI and machine learning engineering, analytics, payment integrity and clinical operations. It works alongside American colleagues on product development and on the clinically trained AI models at the centre of Cohere’s offering. The company is hiring across engineering, product, data science, compliance, payment integrity and clinical operations, though it has not given numeric targets. It has described India as a cornerstone of its global operating model.
Why Hyderabad
Hyderabad combines a large engineering workforce with one of India’s strongest bases in healthcare and life sciences, including pharmaceutical companies, hospital groups and health technology firms. That mix suits a company whose products need both software engineers and people with clinical training. The city has drawn a steady stream of American health technology and payer services companies building capability centres in recent years.
Cohere Health’s India footprint
The Hyderabad centre is Cohere Health’s first dedicated operation in India. The company has not disclosed headcount or office size, but its hiring plans span both technology and clinical roles.
What it signals
Health technology startups have tended to rely on outsourcing partners in India before building their own centres. Cohere Health is going straight to a captive model at a relatively early stage, which reflects how central AI engineering and clinical review have become to its product. It also adds to Hyderabad’s growing cluster of centres serving the American health insurance market.
