Blackbaud opened a second office in Hyderabad at the end of August 2026, less than a year after it set up its first base in the city. The new site covers 45,000 sq ft in the Financial District and has room to grow. Its main job is to house the company’s expanding customer operations teams.
Blackbaud is a US software company listed on Nasdaq that builds cloud and AI tools for the social impact sector. Its products cover fundraising, financial management, corporate social responsibility and education management for nonprofits, foundations, schools and companies with giving programmes. The company has operations in the United States, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, India and the United Kingdom, and its software is used in more than 100 countries.
What the centre will do
The Financial District office will mainly support Blackbaud’s customer operations organisation, the teams that serve and support its users around the world. It adds capacity for customer work rather than replacing the engineering base the company already runs in the city. Blackbaud has said the move strengthens its ability to support customers, product development and global operations, and that it expects the India workforce to keep growing. It has not put a number on that headcount. The company also recently brought in its first graduate cohort in India, with skills spanning full stack development, cloud engineering, customer support, sales operations and AI enabled tools and processes.
Why Hyderabad
Hyderabad already hosts Blackbaud’s technology and product teams, so a second site in the same city keeps customer operations close to the people who build the software. The Financial District sits next to HITEC City, the corridor where the first office is located, and the two areas together form the core of the city’s technology workforce. Keeping both offices within one metro also makes it easier to share leadership, training and infrastructure as the India team scales.
Blackbaud’s India footprint
Blackbaud opened its first India office in HITEC City in November 2025, after spending the previous year building a local team. That office focuses on improving the company’s platforms through AI integration, cloud native development and data modernisation. It is home to product management, enterprise technology, data engineering and research and development. Rajiv Gajria, vice president and managing director of Blackbaud India, leads the operation. The jump from one office to two in under a year shows how quickly the India unit has grown from a product and engineering base into one that also carries customer facing work.
What it signals
Blackbaud’s expansion follows a familiar arc for US software firms in Hyderabad. Many start with engineering and then move customer support and operations into the same hub once the centre proves itself. For a company focused on nonprofits and education, the shift suggests India is becoming a central delivery point for both building and servicing its products, not a satellite.
