Ford Business Solutions India has opened a new office in Coimbatore, returning to the city six years after closing its earlier facility there during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The centre, located at SVB Tech Park, becomes FBS India’s third location in the country after its Global Technology and Business Centre in Chennai and Technology Incubation Centre in Bengaluru. FBS India operates as the global capability centre of Ford Motor Company, supporting business operations across Ford’s global markets.
The Coimbatore teams will work across accounting, Ford Credit and business operations, and will form part of FBS India’s business continuity strategy for functions supporting Ford’s worldwide markets.
The opening comes as Ford deepens its wider India commitment. The company is reviving its Maraimalai Nagar plant near Chennai, inactive for nearly five years, to manufacture next generation powertrains. The facility is expected to become Ford’s first powertrain manufacturing unit outside the United States, with capacity to produce around 2.35 lakh engines annually and create about 600 jobs.
Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency, welcomed the expansion. “Ford’s return to Coimbatore is a strong reaffirmation of Tamil Nadu’s talent depth, business friendly ecosystem, and growing leadership as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres,” the agency said.
The agency added that the new centre will strengthen Coimbatore’s position as a hub for global business services and create high value employment beyond Chennai.
