Wolters Kluwer has opened a new purpose built office in Pune that brings thousands of technologists together in a single facility. The company marked the inauguration in March 2026. Pune is now the group’s largest engineering and development hub anywhere in the world.
Wolters Kluwer is a Dutch provider of information, software and services for professionals in healthcare, tax and accounting, financial and corporate compliance, legal and regulatory work, and ESG. Headquartered in Alphen aan den Rijn, it posted revenues of €6.1 billion in 2025, serves customers in more than 180 countries, operates in over 40 and employs about 21,100 people. Its shares are listed on Euronext.
What the centre will do
The new site consolidates the company’s Pune teams in one place built for collaboration, product innovation and modern software development. Engineers and product teams there work on cloud native platforms, data driven solutions and AI tools that feed into products across the healthcare, tax and accounting, legal, compliance and ESG businesses. The company is also using the site to upskill staff in artificial intelligence and modern engineering practices. Santosh Desai, vice president of technology for India, leads the technology organisation in the country.
Why Pune
Wolters Kluwer’s Pune operation began as a small local team in 2012 and has grown steadily since. Over more than a decade the city has supplied the engineering and product talent the company needed to keep scaling, and building a dedicated campus there rather than spreading teams across leased floors reflects how central Pune has become to the group’s product work.
Wolters Kluwer’s India footprint
Pune is the largest of five Indian hubs. The company also runs offices in Chennai, Coimbatore, Gurugram and Vadodara. Together these sites support every Wolters Kluwer division in product development, AI and user experience, as well as corporate functions such as finance, HR and global business services.
What it signals
When a centre that started small becomes a company’s biggest engineering base worldwide, it says a lot about how product development has shifted. For Wolters Kluwer, whose business increasingly rests on cloud software and AI rather than print, Pune is now where much of that product is built. The move also adds to Pune’s case as a serious home for core software engineering, not just support work.
